I’m Hugh Hollowell [he/him]. This is my link blog, where I share things I found on the web. It gives me joy to write it, and I hope you enjoy reading it. Lord knows we need more joy in this world.
About me.
I’m a sixth-generation Mississippian, and I live in Jackson with my wife, four cats and five chickens.
My pronouns are he/him. I’m a left-leaning INFP, Enneagram 8 personality test skeptic who loves to write, make things, and cook meals for people I love.
You can learn a lot more on my main website.
About this blog
This website exists at the intersection of public and private. Opinions expressed here are mine, and I don’t speak for other people or organizations. This is a blog. It will house small writing, quotes I like, and links to things I want to share.
I bring my whole self to this site, and to life in general. There is no branding here, no topic, no theme. My inner life is chaotic and diverse – expect this site to be equally so. That said, I have opinions. I am strongly interested in making the world better for everyone, finding evidence that humans are amazing, and sharing how we can take care of each other.
This is not a news blog, so I share things outside of timelines. I subscribe to the old tagline of my hometown newspaper: “If you haven’t read it, it’s still news.”
As someone who makes a living with their words, I try to write clearly, but brevity is not my goal. Instead, I stive for clarity and connection. Comments are welcome, but this website is mine, and if I wouldn’t let you say it in my living room, you won’t say it here. I am a big believer in comment moderation.
I have been blogging and writing on the web since 2003, so I have old-school sensibilities about how this is done. Not all posts have images – heck, some of them don’t have titles. I am a big believer in links, attribution, and credit. If you think I missed giving credit where it’s due, please let me know.
Statement on AI use:
I do not use generative AI to write – it is not part of my process at all. This becomes an increasingly harder boundary to draw, as they try to bake it into everything. I do not use AI-generated imagery or stock photographs. Obviously, this is a line I can only draw strongly when I am the source of the image – it may be that I share an image that was, unknown to me, AI generated.
